Harold

 Harold was a loving father who cared deeply for his family. A savvy businessman, he gave up his job at an oil refinery to pursue a new career- becoming Robert's manager. Harold was outgoing and loved meeting new people during his adventures with his son, who deeply admired him.

Timeline

1892- Harold is born in Reynolds, Missouri
1900- According to the census, Harold lives in Otterville, Illinois
1912- Harold's baby brother, Robert Sherman, passes away
1917- Harold and Addie marry on June 2nd
1918- The couple's first son, Robert Pershing, is born
1918- Harold, Addie and Robert move to Charleston, West Virginia for Harold's oil refinery work (they leave three months later due to the flu epidemic)
1920- Harold and Robert visit Alton
1920- Harold's first daughter, Helen, is born in Grafton

1920- Harold's family comes down with the flu a couple weeks after Helen's birth
1922- Harold's second son, Eugene, is born in Roxana
1924- Harold's last daughter, Betty, is born in Roxana
1926- Harold moves the family out west for Addie's health before returning to Alton after eight years

1930- Harold discovers that Robert has gigantism during an examination at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis
1930- Harold works out a deal with Peter's Shoes, who hires Robert to work for them
1931- Harold takes the family on a vacation to Atlanta, Georgia
1932- Harold's last son, Harold Jr., is born in Alton

1936- Harold goes to the National Shoe Fair in Chicago with Robert
1936- Harold runs a refreshment stand at the Illinois State Fair alongside Robert, Eugene and Helen
1937- Harold and Robert step into the big top at Barnum & Bailey Circus in New York's Madison Square Garden
1937- Harold moves his family from Brown Street to Sanford Avenue
1937- Harold quits his job at Shell Oil to tour the country with Robert
